On this 5 Days Uganda Wildlife Tour, you will combine wildlife viewing and chimp trekking in Uganda to enjoy your journey on the African continent. Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to an abundant number of varying animal species with tree climbing lions in its southern sector alongside leopards, elephants, waterbucks, buffaloes, warthogs and numerous Uganda kobs among others. The famous Kazinga channel in the park attracts a wide variety of birds and thirsty mammals that are often watched drinking and diving in the water. Huge crocodiles and hippos are the main residents of this waterway that feature this area’s breathtaking scenery. Kibale’s chimpanzees are incredible and abundant that the chances of finding them in this tropical forest are over 95%.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale

The first meet up with the driver guide is one of the most exciting part of this day. Appointment is made on the convenient time for the pickup from your hotel that is after having breakfast or from the airport and the journey of about 5 hours begins. It takes you through the main towns of Mityana, Mubende and the beautiful Fort Portal where we have the first stopover for lunch before proceeding to Kibale National Park.Connecting from Fort Portal to areas around the park takes about half an hour.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bird Watching

Get to the starting point after taking breakfast. You could team up with more people at Kanyanchu Visitors Centre going for the activity to form a maximum group of 8 which led through the forest by an armed ranger. No certainty about how long it takes to find the chimps but when that time comes, it is always an hour of exhilaration. Taking photos is restricted to cameras without flashlight.

With a lot of images of the experience, relax at the lodge after enjoying your lunch. As the sunshine heat drops, set out for a walk and birding around Bigodi swamp which keeps a lot of birds and other primates like monkeys and baboons.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Set off in the morning after breakfast and drive through Fort Portal via the hill on which Toro palace is located. Next are the views of the Rwenzori ranges throughout the journey to Kasese and to the park. Lunch is had en route and an evening game drive in the Savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth. Sightings expected are of lions, leopard and hyena while Uganda kobs, buffaloes, waterbucks and elephants are commonly seen.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise

Every morning in the wilderness is a beautiful one and it starts with an early breakfast, then set off for the game drive to the northern part of the park where herds of early risers feed that also attract predators- lions, leopards and hyenas.A bright morning also offers a stunning sunrise. After about 4 hours, get back to the lodge, relax, have lunch and prepare for an afternoon boat cruise which takes place along Kazinga channel. The 2 hours spent on the water, multiple species of birds, mammals and some reptiles are seen. At the end of the boat ride, you are driven back to the lodge for dinner and the overnight.

Day 5: Return Journey to Kampala

Wake up to an early morning breakfast and set out of the park. Alternatively, you can go for a brief visit to Katwecraters before exiting this wondrously gifted national park. Lunch break in Mbarara or Masaka and a stopover at Kayabweto take photos at the equator. You could as well purchase some souvenirs there.

This 5 days wildlife and primate safari includes; a safari van, a professional English speaking guide, bottled water, all listed activities except the Bigodi visit, accommodation and meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner)and park entrance fees.

The tour excludes the travelers’ flights, souvenirs, laundry at the lodge, items of personal interest, extra meals and drinks, alcoholic drinks and accommodation in Kampala.
