Only about 1,060 mountain gorillas are known to be surviving on earth today in Uganda, Rwanda and the DRC. The 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which hosts approximately half of the population of the mountain gorillas. With highest chances of about 98% to spot the apes, trekkers enjoy every second in the tropical forest looking for them with the ranger guide as they come across other residents of the forest like monkeys and lots of forest birds alongside the scenic views of the areas around the park. This forest was originally inhabited by the Batwa pygmies and this is a great chance to meet them and get an insight of their lifestyle and culture.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala or Entebbe to Bwindi Forest National Park

Join our professional guide to the corners of Uganda where the most amazing apes live. The safari guide arrives at the hotel or airport early to pick you and set off for the 8-9 hours road trip from Kampala via Masaka-Mbarara road with a stopover at the equator.A moment at this point to stand in both the northern and southern hemispheres and pause for a picture is always worth it. Proceed and break the journey again at Mbarara town for lunch at Igongo cultural Centre or Hotel Triangle and continue to Bwindi. This is a drive on a winding tarmac road through the Kigezi hills with beautiful sceneries. On arrival, check in at your booked lodge for dinner and the overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Wake up and enjoy an early breakfast. Meanwhile, lunch is being prepared and packed so you can move with it for the trek. The safari guide transfers you to the starting point by 8:00 am for safety guidelines and park regulations, meet with the ranger guide and penetrate into the forest.Search for the  gorilla family allocated to, we are never certain for how long it can take for the gorillas to be spotted because they have free movement and therefore their location that day determines the duration of the activities. If you love hiking, then you’ll enjoy the trek more even before spotting the apes and once they are spotted, observe their behavior, take photos of the styles they show off and see how they live socially in the forest.

After an hour with the gorillas,head back to the starting point and in the convenience of time, visit the Batwa pygmies around Bwindi for an Interaction and learning about their daily and traditional life in the forest. Later on in the evening, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for the overnight.

Day 3: Canoe ride at Lake Bunyonyi and Return to Kampala

Get up and have breakfast, then go to the lake for canoeing. They are often misty mornings and the lake is beautifully dotted with over 20 Islands in addition to hosting numerous small-size birds which are seen around the land and flying in the air while canoeing. Enjoy the stunning views of the Virunga volcanoes and the hills of Kabale. Thereafter, start the return journey to Kampala with an en route lunch. The driver drops you at the agreed up on location in Kampala, Entebbe or at Entebbe international airport.
