The 13 Days Uganda Birding and Wildlife Safari allows you to explore the magical jungle of East Africa where you encounter different species of birds on your safari. The tour has been designed to allow bird lovers an insight to spot unique colorful species of birds in the Pearl of Africa. The safaris gives you a chance to explore south western Uganda home to amazing national parks that host impressive numbers of unusual bird species such as Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park.  The safari takes you to Mabamba Swamp wetlands one of the best spots for birding experience.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from the Entebbe International Airport

Upon arrival, meet and greet with our company representative who transfers you to your booked guest house. Depending on the time of arrival at the lodge, check in and take an optional boat cruise ride to amazing Ngamba Island or head out for a short excursion safari the Botanical gardens or at the Uganda Wildlife Education Center for a birding experience.

Day 2: Drive to Mabamba Swamp for Birding

Wake up early to enjoy an early breakfast at the hotel, later Join your drive guide for a driver Mabamba Swamp situated on the shores of the scenic Lake Victoria. Here you get an insight to spot the rare and exclusive Shoebill Stork plus other bird species such as; blue-breasted Bee Eater, Yellow Backed, White Faced Whistling Duck, Lesser Jacana, Orange weaver, red headed Lovebird, Wind cisticola among others. birding at Mabamba island is experienced using a canoe to navigate through the tidal swamp stream until you encounter with the famous rare and Exclusive shoebill stork. Later take a drive back to the hotel and enjoy birding along the way. Take short relaxing, have dinner and an over night stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park with birding en-route.

Enjoy an early morning breakfast, check out and join your driver guide for a transfer to fabulous Lake Mburo national park. Along the way grab an opportunity of birding en-route including at the stopover on the incredible Uganda Equator, here take photos, stretch, purchase some crafts and refreshing drinks at same time delight in unforgettable birding at this spot. Delight in a delicious lunch en-route and proceed with the journey making another stopover at the Kaku Swamp. Here you encounter various species of birdlife such as; common and purple swamphen, Lesser Moorhen, spur winged and Egyptian geese, African Paradise, brown throated Wattle Whistling ducks, grey crowned cranes, Hottentot teals among others.

Continue your journey to Lake Mburo Natural park to check in, enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Birding experience in Lake Mburo National Park

After you early morning breakfast, head out for a game drive birding experience with in the lake Mburo home to over 350 different species of birds with common ones being ; the Double-toothed spot franked,, crested barbets, Brown chested Lapwing, Brown parrot, Bare faced Go-away Birds, Bateleur, Emerald- Spotted dove among others. Take a drive towards lake Mburo shores and Rwonyo for a delicious picnic lunch. Later head out for another birding experience on a boat cruise ride where you encounter with different colorful bird species such as; common purple yellow Warbler, greater and lesser Moorhen, grey crowned cranes, African Darter, whited backed and black-crowned night Herons, Rufous-bellied Heron among others. later transfer back to the lodge while birding enroute. At the lodge enjoy lunch and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in the northern part of the park and remember to enjoy birding en-route.

After a delicious early morning breakfast, join your driver guide for a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park, grab a chance to enjoy birding along the way where you spot various bird species as well as a glimpse sight of the mesmerizing landscapes. The journey traverses through the scenic green rolling hills of Kabale as well as tea and banana plantations .enjoy lunch en-route and proceed with the journey to Bwindi forest arriving in the evening.

Day 6: Full day Birding experience in Mubwindi Swamp

After an early breakfast, head out for a full day birding at Mubwindi Swamp area. This is the best place to spot the rift endemic bird species such as; Grauer’s African Broadbill, striped-breasted Tit, the beautiful Regal sunbird, African Hill Babbler, rare and localized Grauer’s Scrub-Warbler, the Rwenzori Appalls, Dwarf Honey guide, Archer’s Robin chat among others.  other numerous species include; black Goshawk, Crowned Hawk-Eagle, Olive Pigeon, Handsome Francolin, black billed, African Barred Long-tailed Trogons, red-chested Owlet, black and Cinnamon-chested bee eaters, white-headed Wood Hoopoe, western and yellow Ramped Tinkerbird, Rufous necked wryneck, Olive wood pecker, Ruwenzori, Black-throated , Black-faced Bracken-Warblers,Red-faced Woodland-Warbler, Yellow-eyed Black-Flycatcher,Chapin’s Flycatcher,Kivu Ground-Thrush, Banded Prinia,Kakamega and Cabanis’ Greenbuls,Western Violet-backed, Green-throated,Mackinnon’s Shrike,Jameson’s and Wood house’s Ant-peckers, Dusky Crimson-wings,Black-billed,Northern Double-collared among others. return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Birding at Buhoma sector via the Neck

Wake early for a delicious cup of coffee and later join your driver guide for transfer to Buhoma sector via “The Neck”. The Neck is a narrow tidal forest pass that offers a wonderful forest birding experience. Here, expect to spot various bird species that are Albertine Rift endemic that you missed seeing in the previous section of the Bwindi forest such as; African Green Broadbill,  Handsome Francolin,Dwarf Honeyguide,Archer’s Robin-Chat,Rwenzori Nightjar, Short-tailed Warbler,Rwenzori Batis,  Dusky Crimsonwing, Regal Sunbird, Collared Apalis, Fine-banded, Blue-headed Sunbird, Yellow-eyed Black-Flycatcher,Cardinal Woodpeckers,Cassin’s Flycatcher,Black-faced Rufous Warbler,  Dusky Twinspot, Brown-backed Scrub Robin,Western Citril,  Red-headed Malimbe, Mackinnon’s Fiscal,KakamegaGreenbul, Red-tailed Bristlebill,Fine-banded and Cardinal Woodpeckers among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, birding en-route

After your early morning, Join your driver guide to depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park driving through the Ishasha sector. Along the way to the queen you encounter with scenic landscapes where you spot some bird species. Upon arrival enjoy lunch at your booked lodge and head out for a short game driver with in the Kasenyi plains searching for wildlife and other  birdlife such as; the Black-chested and brown Snake Eagles, Diederik, Red chested, Klaas’s Cuckoo among others. after a wonderful breakfast, return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Birding on a boat cruise ride in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After an early morning breakfast, take a full day game drive with a packed lunch and enjoy birding as you take a drive to the Kasenyi Plains. Queen Elizabeth National park is home to over 612 bird species Recorded. The park has the highest population of birdlife that can not be found else where in the world. Here you encounter bird species like; Klaas’s Cuckoo,Ruppel’s Griffon,Eurasian Marsh,African white-backed,Lappet-faced and Hooded Vultures,Tawny,African Crake,Common Button-quail,White-tailed and Flappet Lark, Wing-snapping,Black-crowned Tchagra, Black-chested and Brown Snake-eagles,White-tailed and Flappet Lark,Vereaux’s Eagle-owl, Collared Pratincole,Croaking, Trilling and Stout Cisticola among others. later take a drive towards the Mweya Peninsula where you enjoy a delicious lunch and later head out for a boat cruise experience on Kazinga channel. Here expect to encounter with other amazing wildlife as well colorful bird species that love to live on the shores of the water. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After an early breakfast, get ready with your packed lunch, check out from the lodge and head out for a drive to Maramagambo Forest for a nature walk birding experience in this wonderful forest. Here you encounter with various bird species like;  Chestnut Wattle Eye,Fawn breasted Waxbill, Yellow-fronted and Speckled Tinkerbirds,Yellow-fronted and Speckled Tinkerbirds, Sulphur-breasted bush shrike,Red-bellied ParadiseAfrican Golden oriole among others. after this wonderful experience, take a transfer to Kibale Forest National park. you arrive late evening, check in at your booked lodge, enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

Day 12: Birding experience in Kibale Forest National Park along Bigodi Swamp.

After an early morning breakfast, today begin off your full day birding ion Kibale forest hosting over 300 bird species, therefore expect to encounter with bird species such as; Scally breasted, Green-breasted Pitta,Fire-crested and Brown-chested Alethe,Black-billed Turaco,Red-tailed Ant-thrushBrown-eared and Yellow-crested Woodpecker, Red-winged Francolin,White-napped and Afep Pigeon among others. later return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 13: Depart back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport.

After your morning breakfast, set off for journey back to Kampala, enjoy lunch enroute along the way. Upon arrival you are transferred back to the Hotel of residence or at Entebbe international Airport to catch up with your scheduled Flight back home.
